Questions & answers
The honest FAQ
Plain answers — no fine print, no surprises.

Do you charge for each piece of art?
No — no per-piece charges, ever. One price covers the whole family.
No. There are no per-piece charges— ever. You're never billed for each drawing you save; one simple price covers your whole family.
Start free with your first 30 pieces. A family plan adds room for 365 new pieces a year — about one a day, all kept forever — from A$59 a year, and you see that total before you pay. Want no limit at all? Heirloom is unlimited. No surprise bills land in your inbox later.
Why are 3D sculpture models limited? Is that a per-piece charge?
No — everyday use is unlimited; only the AI-built walk-around 3D models have a generous yearly allowance.
No — it's not a per-piece charge. Cleaning up, displaying, sharing and exporting your art never costs extra per piece. And spinning a sculpture on its turntable — the one you drag with a finger in the detail view and flip-book — is photo-based and costs nothing extra, on any plan.
Generating a full walk-around 3D model — the kind you can orbit from any angle — is a different step. It runs on specialised AI hardware that costs us real money each time (roughly A$2 to A$4 per model, depending on the piece). So rather than bill you per generation, we include a generous allowance and absorb the cost: Family plans include 3 a year, Heirloom plans 10 a year, resetting on your subscription anniversary. The one-time A$299 lifetime plan includes 20 to start instead of a yearly allowance — top up with a pack whenever you like.
For most families that's plenty — sculptures are seasonal (the kindy clay project, the end-of-year show), not weekly. If you do want more, a Sculpture Top-Up Pack of 5 is A$14.99 whenever you need it.
Think of it like a photo book: printing unlimited copies of your photos is included; a hand-tooled leather cover is a one-time add-on, not a per-photo charge. Your everyday experience — viewing, sharing and exporting art — never costs a cent extra per piece. The 3D model is an optional extra for standout pieces.
What does “we never redraw” actually mean?
We only undo the camera — every line your child drew stays exactly as they made it.
It means we don't change your child's art. Some apps “tidy up” kids' drawings into something slick and generic. We don't do that.
When you photograph a drawing, our AI only undoes the camera — the tilt, the shadow, the glare from the kitchen light. Every shaky line, every colour that went outside the lines on purpose, stays exactly as your child made it. The wobbles are the whole point.
If I ever stop paying, do I lose the art?
No — your art is always yours, and you can download all of it in full quality, free, any time.
No. Your art is always yours. You can download everything you've added — in full quality, free — at any time, even after you cancel. Nothing is held hostage.
The download includes the original photo and the cleaned-up version of every piece, plus your family memory photos. You can read exactly how this works on our privacy page.
How do grandparents see the gallery? Do they need an account?
No account, no app — they just tap a link, and viewing is free forever.
No account, no app, no password. You send a link by text or email. They tap it, and they're standing inside the gallery on their phone, tablet or computer.
It works in any web browser. They can look around, leave a heart or a little note, and come back whenever they like — without ever signing up for anything.
We're separated — can we both keep the kids' art?

Yes — invite your co-parent and you each get your own login, with art from both homes in one shared gallery.
Yes. The Family plan includes two parent accounts, so you and your co-parent can each sign in with your own login, on your own phone — and you can both add art to the same child's gallery. Whatever they make at either home lands in one place.
Grandparents on both sides can see it too — just send them a link, no account needed, free forever.
Right now you share one family gallery, so it works best for co-parents who are happy to share access. Fully separate, private per-parent accounts — where each parent keeps their own independent copy — are something we're building next.
Is my child's art or data used to train AI? What about privacy?
No — your family's art is never used to train AI, and your data is stored in Australia.
Your family's art is private and is never used to train AI. We use AI for one job only — cleaning up the photo you took — and we don't use your images for advertising or profiling.
Children don't have accounts. Only adults sign in, and we deliberately collect very little about a child: a first name, an optional birth year (year only) and an optional photo. Your data is stored in Australia. The full detail — including who processes what — is on our privacy page.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes — cancel any time, no penalty, and you keep your free export.
Yes. You can cancel whenever you want, with no phone calls and no hoops to jump through. There's no lock-in.
And before you go, you can download everything in full quality, for free. Your art comes with you.
Is The Fridge Gallery a website or an app?
Both — a phone app and a website that stay in sync; grandparents need neither.
Both, and they work together. There's a phone app for capturing art on the go, and a website you can use on any computer. Whatever you add on one shows up on the other.
A few of the richer features — like walking through the 3D gallery or flipping through the storybook — open the same web view inside the app, so they look and feel the same everywhere. Grandparents don't need either: a shared link opens straight in their browser.
How are you different from Artkive?
We're a phone app with no per-piece charges and free full-quality export forever — no box to mail in.
Both help families keep children's art — we just go about it differently, and we'll be fair about that.
Artkive is built around mailing in a box of physical art to be photographed and made into a printed book. The Fridge Gallery is a phone app: you photograph a piece yourself and it's in a private digital gallery in seconds — nothing to post.
The other big difference is how we price and how we treat your art. We show your total before you pay, with no per-piece charges, and you can export everything in full quality for free, forever. If those things matter to you, that's where we're different.
One price, shown up front
No per-piece charges. You see the total before you pay.
We never redraw
Only the camera is undone. Every mark stays as your child made it.
Always yours
Export everything in full quality, free — even if you cancel.
